It was while I was listening to the Daily Audio Bible Podcast reading of Lamentations 1 regarding the aftermath of God's judgement on Jerusalem that I received a revelation about the USA. I could just picture in my mind that the words of the chapter so accurately described the spiritual condition of this country and its downward spiral to a similar spiritual fate.
"She who was once great among the nations now sits alone like a widow. Once the queen of all the earth, she is now a slave." (Lamentations 1:1 NLT)
The USA was THE SUPERPOWER of the world. It was The Land of the Free and the utopia to which so many hopefuls fled - dreaming of a bright and shining tomorrow.
But, the compromise of The Church (The Body of Christ left here to rule on Christ's behalf with His authority) has led to the walls of protection being torn down. Once the wall of a city was down the watchtowers were rendered useless and the watchmen could no longer warn against attacks. In much the same way The Church has been left unaware and taken by surprise; she was overpowered by the enemy and impotent against his devices.
The Church left its door open to all that would enter, without paying the least bit of caution to the intentions and motivations of certain individuals. She was too afraid to offend anyone to influence all to live a life of repentance (turning away from that which distracts us from God and living with our eyes on Jesus every step of the way).
Naturally, with conviction out of the way, the nation was left free to live as they chose with no regard for the consequence of their compromise. The Church decided to become lax in its quality control and much like Adam and Eve, she traded her authority and power for worthless idols and sin. She foolishly thought that she could become the lord of her own life.
Now, Beautiful America lies in ruins. Compromise is no longer considered dangerous or even recognized. Compromise is now mistakenly labelled as freedom. It is not!
Jesus plainly taught that we are either for Him or against Him. And, we are either in shackles to sin, or we are shackled to Christ in which there is freedom. This concept will not make logical sense, I know, but in your spirit you are understanding this principle even though your mind is rebelling.
Christ is not interested in us being oppressed by shame and lies. He is interested in us being restored to our original created purpose. He suffered, bled, died and rose to live again so that He could be the atoning sacrifice in my place; in your place. He did all this so that we could have the freedom to go directly to the Father - to Daddy. No more go-between or middle-man, but a face-to-face, hand-in-hand relationship with God Himself. The way Adam and Eve were intended.
There in lies our freedom. But, we can only walk in this if we are shackled to Christ because He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life - no one comes to the Father except through Him.
Disclaimer: I am in no way laying the full weight of blame on The Church, but I am saying that The Church has largely been silent and inactive, allowing disgrace to come to this wonderful nation. At the end of this age when we face God on our Judgement Day, we will have to answer for all that we did - good or bad. I don't think God will take silence and inaction lightly just because we claim to be saved. Let your faith have works!!! Besides, if The Church was left in charge, won't God have a specific problem with what The Church allowed?
